ChatKeep ("we," "us," or "our") is operated by Michał Brotoń. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use the ChatKeep mobile application ("App").
This policy describes how we process your information.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Account information: Email address, display name, and profile photo (optional).
- Profile and app data: Timezone, locale, app version, and timestamps.
- Device and log data: Device or app identifiers and IP address collected by our service providers.
- User content: Decks and flashcards you create or import.
- Usage and activity: Study activity, practice results, and usage statistics.
- MCP integration data: If you use MCP, we process authentication tokens, request metadata, and content you send for import.
- Notification data: Your notification preferences and, if you enable push notifications, a device token.
- Subscription status: Active or inactive status from Apple's StoreKit.
- Analytics data: App interactions and usage metrics.
We do not collect payment details. Payments are handled by Apple.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and sync the App's features across devices.
- Schedule reviews and show learning statistics.
- Operate the MCP integration and authenticate third-party clients.
- Send local or push notifications (if enabled).
- Determine subscription access and restore purchases.
- Monitor performance and improve the App.
- Protect the App, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
3. Sharing and Third-Party Services
We share information with service providers that help operate the App, including:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Analytics, Cloud Messaging)
- Cloudflare (MCP integration hosting, telemetry/logging)
- Apple (Sign in with Apple, StoreKit, Apple Push Notification service)
- Google Sign-In
We do not sell your personal information or share it for third-party advertising.
4. Storage and International Transfers
Your data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore (multi-region, United States). Our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. We rely on standard contractual clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms provided by our vendors for international transfers.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your data from active systems. Some data may remain in backups or logs for a limited period or as required by law.
6. Legal Bases (EEA/UK)
If you are in the EEA or UK, we process personal data under these legal bases:
- Contract: Provide the App, sync data, and manage subscriptions.
- Legitimate interests: Security, fraud prevention, analytics, and service improvement.
- Consent: Notifications (you can enable or disable them in device settings).
- Legal obligations: Compliance with applicable laws and enforcement of our Terms.
7. Your Rights
You can access, correct, or delete your data in the App. If you are in the EEA or UK, you also have rights to access, rectification, deletion, portability, restriction, objection, and to withdraw consent. 8. Children's Privacy
ChatKeep is not intended for children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it. If you are between 13 and 16 in the EEA, you may need parental consent.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. We will update the Effective Date and, for material changes, notify you in the App or by email. Continued use means acceptance.
